Assessor Reports & Welcome Packet

  • Commission adopted a standardized assessor final-report format for consistent decision-making.
    • Assessors will pull specific agency-supplied sections from a new welcome packet template.
    • Reports will include limited statistical tables (small, ~3–4 lines) from agency data.
  • Sample welcome-packet template will be issued to agencies for customization and mandatory sections.

Standards Review Committee (SRC) & Technology Updates

  • Property & Evidence and Communications standards undergoing major rewrites.
  • The next Property & Evidence SRC meeting is Nov 6.
  • Emergency Communication Centers SRC meets Nov 13.
  • Law Enforcement SRC meets next on Nov 18.
  • Target completion for committee drafts: July 2026.
  • Technology standards (LPRs, body-worn cameras, other tech) expedited for immediate release.
    • These will be pushed quickly for Commission/AACOP Board review and legislative use.
  • CALEA crosswalk will end in January; CALEA agencies must complete ALEAP standards instead.
    • Transitional support will be provided for agencies currently in CALEA.

Trainings, Conference, and Events

  • Accreditation Manager training schedule (published): Feb 24–25 (Avondale), May 19–20 (Flagstaff), September (conference), Dec 8–9 (Casa Grande).
  • Supplemental Accreditation Manager training confirmed for Dec 3–4; MCSO and Marana offered to host (location being finalized).
  • AACOP vendor show in Maricopa (January) is our next ALEAP Commission Meeting and Hearings. This conference will include a 1-2 hour assessor training and rollout of new reports.
  • Conference planning: new conference dates posted (Sept 22–24); committee expanding speaker/tracks and addressing food/vendor issues.
  • Website posts: meeting summaries and event registration links are published; standard-review submission form available under Programs.

Program Operations, Reviews, And Tools

  • Domain verification completed for Airtable; automation and audit-trail capabilities now enabled.
  • COPS grant awarded to fund a two‑year position and onboarding support for small agencies (≤25 personnel).
    • Grant covers policy manuals, PowerDMS, training; rollout pending federal-signature/furlough resolution.
  • Assessment Verification Analysts (AVA) completed ~40 reviews this year; process guides being refined.
  • Annual reports must be completed and signed by chiefs (no delegation or save-resume); Marcella will audit submissions.

Next Steps

  • Send sample welcome-packet template and assessor final-report examples to all agencies — Stacy & Marcella.
  • Finalize and publish expedited technology standards (LPR/body-worn camera); confirm requirements and sample policies — Stacy to coordinate with Bill Amato.
  • Confirm host and publish location for Dec 3–4 Accreditation Manager training (MCSO proposed); finalize logistics — Lisa (MCSO) & Stacy.
  • Post finalized Accreditation Manager training locations and send calendar invites earlier for future sessions — Stacy & Marcella.
  • Audit annual-report submissions and contact chiefs with outstanding reports — Marcella.
  • Follow up on COPS grant signature and prepare onboarding rollout plan for small agencies — Stacy.
  • Fix registration link bug for upcoming webinars (1/5/2026 link pointing to 12/1) and confirm registration flow — Stacy/IT.
