ALEAP Exchange: Program Insights and Updates – October 2025

Thank you to everyone who joined our first ALEAP Exchange Webinar! This monthly session was created to keep agencies and accreditation managers informed, connected, and supported as we continue improving our statewide accreditation process.

During the session, ALEAP Director Stacy Olson and Program Manager Marcella Garcia shared several key updates:

  • Website Enhancements: The updated fee schedule is now posted under each program page, and new contact buttons are being added for billing questions, PowerDMS issues, and scheduling meetings directly with ALEAP staff.
  • Commission Update: The ALEAP Commission now has a full 13-member board, with recent additions including Sheriff Ponce (La Paz County), Chief Tanakeyowma (Tonto Apache), and Chief Amy Bonney (Prescott Police Department).
  • Manual Updates: Version 5.1 of the PowerDMS manual has formatting fixes only—no content changes. Agencies may safely update or wait until after the next standards review cycle.
  • Standards Review Committees:
    • Law Enforcement: November 19, 2025 – topics include license-plate readers, body-worn cameras, and missing-persons alerts.
    • Property & Evidence: October 15 in-person meeting.
    • Emergency Communications: November 13 in-person meeting.
    • Goal: Complete full manual reviews by July 2026.
  • Assessment Verification Analyst (AVA) Program: Currently seven AVAs conducting annual file reviews—helping agencies maintain compliance and lighten assessor workload.
  • Assessor Program: New training sessions scheduled for Oct 9, Oct 14, and Nov 5, with an additional in-person session on Jan 28 at the AACOP Vendor Show. Updated Assessor Manuals will include new appendices and PowerDMS guidance.
  • Accreditation Manager Trainings: Tentatively scheduled for Feb 24–25 (Avondale area), May 19–20 (Flagstaff), Sept (conference), and Dec 8–9 (Casa Grande).
  • ACE & FOCUS Leadership Programs: Annual certification reviews are underway, with new training scheduled for Nov 12–13 at AZ POST. Forms and updates are available on the ALEAP website.
  • CAPA Updates: Accreditation Managers are encouraged to join CAPA for mentoring, workshops, and networking.
  • Agency Recognition: Accredited agencies can now request free ALEAP stickers (color or black-and-white) for display on vehicles or facilities.
  • Next ALEAP Exchange: November 3, 2025.
